A jubilant Bangladesh women’s cricket team returned home on Monday after a successful ICC Women’s Twenty20 World Cup Qualifier’s 2019 campaign in Scotland.

The champion team landed in Dhaka at 6:00pm at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, high on moral after winning their second successive title in the competition.

The girls thrashed Thailand by 70 runs in the final on Saturday at the Forfarshire Cricket Club in Dundee and also secured a place in the next year’s ICC Women’s Twenty20 World Cup in Australia.

Though Bangladesh went to Scotland as defending champions, the tournament was a challenging one for them as they hadn’t played an international match since their dismal show in the Women’s T20 World Cup in West Indies earlier this year.

But they took little time to find their groove, winning all three of their group-stage matches before edging Ireland in the semi-final to reach their third consecutive final.

The girls have a busy schedule ahead of them as India A team will arrive in Bangladesh on October 1 and then a second string side will fly to Sri Lanka to take part in ACC Women’s Emerging team Asia Cup from October 20.

Bangladesh senior will travel to Pakistan to take part in a bi-lateral series in November this year.
