A court in Jashore allowed investigators three days on Sunday to interrogate three police sources in connection with reported rape of a woman by a police sub-inspector and three sources at village Laxmanpur of Sharsha upazila recently.
The court of judicial magistrate Saifuddin Hussain issued the order for Abdul Kader, Abdul Latif and Kamruzzaman, all are in their fifties, of village Chatkapota, in Sharsha, court sources said.
Police Bureau of Investigation inspector Sheikh Monayem Hossain said the arrested would be taken into PBI custody before interrogation.
He also informed that the case was shifted to the Police Bureau of Investigation for inquiry.
A housewife, in her thirties, from village Laxmanpur at Sharsha complained on September 3 that police sub-inspector Khairul and his associates raped her at her house at 2:30am the day as she did not pay Tk 50,000 to the policeman for making the case filed against her husband simpler.
The information was disclosed after the victim went to Jashore General Hospital for her medical test on the day.
The victim on Friday told journalists that subinspector Khairul was known to her and she did not disclose his name to police at first in fear of possible problems.
Jashore superintendent of police Mainul Haque said they would take actions if the allegation was found true.
The rape victim filed a case naming three and an unidentified man, without mentioning the name of sub-inspector Khairul of Gorpara police camp under Sharsha police station, with police on September 3.
