A group of under-privileged children met Siddikur Rahman at the Kurmitola Golf Club on Friday, making it a special occasion for the ace Bangladeshi golfer.
Ekmatra Society, a non-profit organisation, who mostly works with the under-privileged children in association with a Japan-based charitable organisation, took them to the golf club at the invitation from Siddik.
The event coincided with Siddik’s brilliant show on the course that saw him finishing the third round with three-under-par 68, taking him to joint third position in the lone Asian Tour event in Bangladesh.
‘I am really happy to bring the child here,’ Siddik said. ‘It’s really a different feeling for me,’ he said, adding that their presence came as an extra-motivation for him.
The children also expressed their joy watching Siddik and other top golfers of the region in action.
‘I never saw how to play golf but once Siddik Bhai invited us here we felt excited,’ said Pia, one of students of the organisation. ‘We wish Siddik Bhai to win the title,’ she said.
