A housewife was beaten to death allegedly by her husband over family dispute at village Char-Bhangura of Bhangura in Pabna on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Trisha Khatun, 20, daughter of Korban Ali of village Par-Bhangura in the upazila.

Trisha was married two years ago to Akter Hossain, son of Shahidul Islam of village Char-Bhangura.

Trisha’s father, Korban Ali, said that Akter went aboard after marriage, and recently after he returned, he started torturing Korban’s daughter by alleging her of speaking to other people over phone.

‘Akter started beating my daughter which left her dead on Saturday night. Later, he also poured poison in her mouth,’ he added.

Bhangura police officer-in-charge Masud Rana said police found the body of the victim from the in-laws’ house with marks of injuries on her body on Saturday night.

The body was sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination on Sunday morning.

Korban Ali filed a case accusing the husband and four of his family members with Bhangura Police Station on Sunday.

Police raided the house to nab the culprits but they went in hiding after the incident, the OC said.
