The parliamentary standing committee on the ministry of industries on Sunday asked the ministry to remove officials and employees of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation involved in corruption and irregularities.
The committee made the request at its fifth meeting held in the Parliament Bhaban chaired by its chairman Amir Hossain Amu, said a preliminary secretariat press release.
The committee also discussed the latest condition of the construction of 13 buffer godowns for fertiliser by Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation, Karnaphuli Paper Mills and BCIC’s Plastic State.
The committee asked the secretaries concerned to restart the closed fertiliser factories and make the sugar mills profitable.
The Jatiya Sangsad body suggested stopping overtime pay to employs of the sugar mills if the production was stopped.
Among other committee members Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, also minister of the ministry, Kamal Ahmed Majumder, state minister of the ministry, AKM Fazlul Haque, MP, Mohammad Shahiduzzaman, MP, Kazim Uddin Ahmed, MP, and Parveen Haque Sikder, MP, attend the meeting among others.
