Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, called on Bangladesh Chhatra League not to break the chain of command in maintaining contact with its mother organisation Awami League.
He also said that Chhatra League should not work for the interest of any specific lawmaker or minister or leader.
He made the remarks at discussion organised by Chhatra League at the Dhaka University Teacher-Student Centre marking the anniversary of the August 21, 2004 grenade attack on an AL rally.
Quader said that prime minister and AL president Sheikh Hasina selected a forum of four members — AL joint secretaries Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman and organising secretaries AFM Bahauddin Nasim and Mojammed Haque — to monitor Chhatra League activities.
‘So the forum will look after Chhatra League if it face any problem but it is not fair to reach the high command over a silly matter and without consulting the forum,’ he added.
He also urged the Chhatra League leaders to prepare a work plan and make the activists more dynamic and not to grab headlines for wrongdoings.
AL joint secretaries Jahangir kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman, organising secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Chhatra League president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon, its general secretary and Dhaka University Central Students’ Unions general secretary Golam Rabbani, DU unit president Sanjit Chandra Das and its general secretary Saddam Hussein also spoke at the programme.
