Bangladesh Emerging team secured a narrow two-wicket win in a last over thriller against their Sri Lankan counterparts in the second one-dayer of the three-match series at the BKSP on Wednesday.
Yasir Ali and skipper Nazmul Hossain made 85 and 77 respectively as the hosts reached 274-8 in 49.3 overs after bowling out Sri Lanka for 273 with pacer Shafiqul Islam claiming 3-51.
Batting first, Sri Lanka reached 96-1 inside 17 overs thanks to a 66-run second wicket stand between Pathun Nissanka (55) and skipper Charith Asalanka (45) but after their dismissals the visitors lost a flurry of wickets in quick succession to be reduced to 184-6 in 34 overs.
Kamindu Mendis and Jehan Daniel then added 57 runs for the seventh wicket to take them close to the 250-run mark before Shafiqul trapped the former leg-before for 65.
Daniel carried on till the last over, made 43 off 41 balls, before getting dismissed as the last batsman of the innings.
In reply, Bangladesh lost their opening pair for 64 runs inside 15 overs but a 120-run third wicket stand between Yasir and Nazmul took Bangladesh to a commanding position before Shiran Fernanado dismissed Nazmul to break the stand.
Yasir soon followed his skipper and Bangladesh lost their next five wickets for 29 runs and were left to chase 13 runs in seven balls.
Pacer Yeasin Arafat then struck two sixes in the final over off Daniel to take the hosts to winning shores with three balls to spare.
Bangladesh had previously lost the first one-dayer by 186 runs on Sunday at the same venue.
The third and final match of the series will take place at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna on Saturday.
