Three locals films namely Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale, Swatta and Iti, Tomari Dhaka are participating in Global Film Festival, which commenced on Wednesday in Siliguri, India.
The five-day film festival will continue till August 25 where a total of 36 feature films and 24 short films will be screened from countries including Bangladesh, India, Nepal and others, according to the organisers.
Besides, a number of fashion designers will participate in the festival. Bibi Russell will represent Bangladesh at the event.
The film Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale features the biography of Bangladeshi prime minister Sheikh Hasina. It was released on November 16 last year. It has been directed by Rezaur Rahman Khan Piplu and jointly produced by Centre for Research and Information and Applebox Films.
The film Swatta, directed by Reza Kallol, stars Shakib Khan and Indian actress Paoli Dam.
Omnibus film Iti, Tomari Dhaka has been screened at 15 various international film festivals held in Indonesia, India, Cambodia, Canada, South Africa and others. The film features diverse aspects of the megacity Dhaka including its heritage and traditions, people and professions, dreams and nightmares through eleven short films directed by Nuhash Humayun, Tanvir Ahsan, Rahat Rahman, Krishnendu Chattopadhyay, Mahmudul Islam, Golam Kibria Farooki, Mir Mokarram Hossain, Rabiul Alam, Saleh Ahmed, Ahmed Shawki and Tanim Noor.
Fazlur Rahman Babu, Intekhab Dinar, Tisha and others have acted in the films.
Besides, the film is participating in the two more film festivals. It will be screened at 10th Sakhalin International Film Festival in Russia, which will begin on August 23, and Singapore South Asian Film Festival, which is scheduled to start on August 30.
