Bangladesh Under-21 women’s hockey team began their six-match friendly series against Sports Authority of India women’s hockey team with a 0-6 defeat at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.
The visitors dominated the game throughout as they took the lead in the 18th minute through a penalty stroke from Vinamarata Yadav. Vinamarata scored her second of the match in the 29th minute.
F Lalawn Puii, Tanya, Lolita Mary and Lalruatfeli Misabi scored one field goal each in the 20th, 32nd, 42nd and 46th minutes respectively for the winners.
The SAI were so confident against the budding hosts that they played the last five minutes of the third quarter without their goalkeeper.
Bangladesh goalkeeper Shorna was outstanding in the game as she denied all 10 penalty corners of the Indian team.
Bangladesh girls are playing the series against the Indian side as part of their preparation for the seven-team Women’s Junior [Under-21] AHF Cup, scheduled to be held in Singapore from September 9 to 15.
