A fire broke out at a plastic factory at Chawkbazar in Dhak on Wednesday night.

The fire service and civil defence control room said that the fire was reported at Postardhal of Chawk Bazar at about 10:40pm and 16 fire engines rushed to the spot to put out the fire.

Many witnesses said that the fire ensued from the transformer explosion closed to the factory.

Fire official Jahurul Islam said that they doused the fire but search and rescue operations were underway.

Fire service control room staff Babul Miah said that they were yet to receive final report over the fire.

No casualties were reported till 12:45am on Thursday, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police Lalbagh division additional deputy commissioner Kamal Hossain.

New Age correspondent at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital added that no case related to the fire was reported.  

On February 20, another fire broke out at a chemical warehouse, spread through four adjacent buildings at Chawk Bazar, causing the deaths of at least 70 people.
