Though at least four films were released during Eid celebrations in the previous year, only three films will hit local cinemas this Eid-ul-Azha.

Due to low number of Eid films along with the dengue outbreak, which has not been controlled yet, the cinema owners and producers shared their concern over business during Eid.

Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan-starrer big budget Eid film titled ‘Moner Moto Manush Pailam Na’ has been directed by Zakir Hossain Raju, who is one of the most acclaimed directors in the industry. The film will be released at various cinemas across the country including the capital. Bubly will star opposite Shakib in Moner Moto Manush Pailam Na.

Eid film Beporowa, starring Roshan and Bobby in the lead roles will be released across the country. It has been directed by Raja Chanda.

Bhalobashar Jala, starring new-comers Orpa and Shakil in the lead roles and directed by Bashir Ahmed, is the third film which is scheduled to be released on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

Besides, local film Bhalobasar Rajkanya, another Eid film, has already been released.

Industry insiders shared their concern over low number of films this Eid and lack of popular heroes in Dhallywood while taking to New Age.

‘We have not been successful in producing quality actors for silver screen. Shakib Khan is the only one who sells and he cannot possibly fulfil the audience’s desire by doing more than what he is already doing. During this Eid-ul-Fitr, the only film that made any business is Shakib Khan-starrer Password. I am in debt from financial institutions for the last six months because of all this,’ said Iftekhar Uddin Nawshad, owner of famous Madhumita Cinema Hall.

‘We are suffering loss with the gradual decline in the number of local films. Cinema owners are passing critical times. If the situation continues like this, we will have to shut down our business,’ he said.

‘We have talked with the information minister several times but the government has not taken any initiative yet regarding this matter. I am not hopeful about the two other Eid films but Shakib Khan’s film may do some business,’ Nawshad added.
