Bangladesh Athletics Federation will organise a two-day long National Summer Athletics Competition at the Bangabandhu National Stadium at the end of this month, said federation’s new general secretary Abdur Rokib Montu on Saturday.
‘We are going to arrange a two-day long National Summer Athletics Competition from August 30 to 31,’ said Montu, who was elected as the federation’s general secretary on August 3.
The federation has also planned to send six athletes to India for higher-level training in October this year, informed Montu without disclosing the athletes’ names.
The federation will further arrange three competitions in the 2019-2020 calendar year to mark the birth centenary of the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The three competitions are — Bangabandhu Senior Athletics Competition in November 2019, National Athletics Competition and Divisional and District Marathon in 2020.
‘We will finalise all these decisions officially in our first executive committee meeting on August 24,’ said Montu.
