Bangladesh Hockey Federation on Friday confirmed that they have roped in veteran Indian coach Ajay Kumar Bansal as advisor for the Bangladesh Under-21 women’s team ahead of the Junior AHF Cup 2019 in Singapore staring on September 9.
Bansal is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on August 15 at Bangladesh time 9.30pm for a 15-day stint, but the federation hoped to extend his tenure to work with the Bangladesh Under-21 men’s team before the Junior Asia Cup in Bangladesh next year.
Federation’s general secretary AKM Mominul Haque Shaeed expressed their satisfaction over securing the services of Bansal, and hoped that his inclusion in the coaching panel will help the players.
‘Ajay Kumar Bansal is one of the most experienced coaches not only in India in the whole sub-continent. He has a very old relation with Bangladesh. This time his main objective will be to prepare the Singapore bound women’s team,’ Shaeed was quoted saying in a BHF press release.
The tournament will take place between September 9-15, and the players will start their training camp on August 15.
