Jewel eliminated in backstroke heat

Bangladesh swimmer Jewel Ahmed was eliminated from the race of men’s 100-metre backstroke event of the 18th FINA World Championships 2019 when he finished 62nd in Gwangju, South Korea on Monday.

Jewel competed in the first heat of the event and clocked 1:05:00 minutes to be placed third among four swimmers. He will compete in the men’s 50-metre backstroke event on July 27.

Earlier on Sunday, another Bangladeshi swimmer Ariful Islam was eliminated from the race of men’s 100-metre breaststroke event when he finished 78th and clocked 1:07:74 minutes in the second heat of the event.

Ariful will compete in the men’s 50-metrem freestyle event on July 26.
