Road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader on Monday said that the present condition of the highways was better than any other time.
He also said that the roads damaged by flood were also under repair in urgent basis.
The minister briefed reporters at a press conference held at the secretariat.
He also assured of smooth traffic movement on highways during the Eid-ul-Azha while the CNG stations would remain open for 24 hours seven days before and three days after the Eid.
Lorries, covered van and heavy vehicles would not run on highways three days before and after the Eid, he added.
When asked about Preo Bala’s recent comments, Obaidul Quader told the journalists that she would be interrogated after returning Bangladesh that from where did she get the information.
In reply to another question the minister said if Preo Bala did not return Bangladesh, the government had nothing to do in this regard.
Obaidul Quader also discussed the recent lynching issues with the home minister and said that they had taken strict measures in this regard.
