THE sexual harassment prevention cell of Islamic University in Kushtia will investigate into the alleged indecent conversation of tourism and hospitality management department chairman M Mahbubul Arefin with a student.

The female student submitted a written complaint to the university authorities seeking punishment of the teacher as Arefin harassed her promising marriage.

Two audio clips containing ‘indecent discussion’ between the professor and the female student went viral on facebook and were published in different national daily newspapers on June 28.

Taking cognizance of the issue, IU vice-chancellor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari asked the sexual harassment prevention cell, led by professor Nasim Banu, to investigate into the incident.

The prevention cell was asked to submit the investigation reports as early as possible, IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif said.

The IU vice-chancellor told New Age that the committee would unveil the truth and remedies for the sexual harassment.
