Navy chief off to Turkey, Russia

Chief of naval staff Admiral Aurangzeb Chowdhury left Dhaka for Turkey and Russia on Sunday on a six-day official visit.

During his visit, he would pay courtesy call on the chief of staff of Turkish Naval Forces Command Admiral Adnan Ozbal and chief of staff of the Turkish Armed Forces General Yasar Guler, said an ISPR press release.

He would also call on president of Defence Industries Ismail Demir, commander of Turkish fleet Vice Admiral Ercument Tatlioglu and Naval Training and Education commander Rear Admiral (UH) Kadir Yildiz, it added.

Besides, Aurangzeb will visit Turkey’s Golcuk Naval Base, Istanbul shipyard and various historical sites.

From Turkey, Aurangzeb will leave for Russia where he will participate in naval parade to be held on July 23 on the occasion of Russian Navy Day.

He will also meet the country’s navy chief and other high officials.

During his stay in Russia, the Bangladesh Navy chief would visit various naval bases, ships and historical establishments.

The Admiral is expected to return on July 31, 2019.

Assistant chief of naval staff (operation) Rear Admiral Makbul Hossain and Naval Administrative Authority Dhaka Commodore Musa saw the naval chief off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here in the morning.
