The Jatiya Party will distribute relief materials amongst the flood-affected people in the north and central districts from Tuesday.
Party chairman GM Quader at a briefing at the party’s Banani office on Saturday told reporters that the party formed four committees and and framed an action plan to distribute relief materials in Gaibandha, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Rangpur, Sirajganj and Tangail.
The relief distributions will be monitored centrally, he said, adding that they would try to help the people and the government through the activities.
Asked about the poor presence of the party presidium members at the briefing, Quader said that it was not a presidium meeting.
‘Everybody was invited to make action plan on relief distribution programme. Those who could come attended,’ he said claiming that 99 per cent presidium members were supporting him as chairman.
Four days after death of HM Ershad, his younger brother and the party founder, GM Quader was introduced as party chairman by the party secretary general Mashiur Rahman Ranga on Thursday.
The party is yet to nominate the party chief in the parliament or the candidate for Rangpur 3 constituency announced vacant after Ershad’s death on July 14.
