Bangladesh suffered a fresh injury scare ahead of their three-match one-day international series against Sri Lanka as pacer Rubel Hossain sustained an ankle injury during Bangladesh A’s first one-day match against Afghanistan A in Chattogram on Friday.
Rubel, who was bowling his eighth over in Afghanistan innings, sustained an injury in his ankle while bowling the penultimate delivery of the over and was immediately taken off the field.
Habibul Bashar, national selector and manager of Bangladesh A team, however, confirmed New Age that he did not twist his ankle.
‘Our physio [Shawon Jahan] observed his situation and there is nothing serious. There was no requirement of any test... he was feeling light discomfort so we immediately took him off the field,’ said Bashar.
Rubel is one of the four players of the senior team to play for A team in the game, which the hosts lost by 10 wickets.
