2-day film festival under way at Shilpakala

A two-day film festival titled ‘Shampriti Chalachitra Utsab’ commenced at National Art Gallery Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday.

The festival has been organised by Charuprangon in association with Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi and Manusher Jonno Foundation.

Former vice-chancellor of Dhaka University AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the festival as the chief guest. Noted filmmaker Moshiuddin Shaker, Manusher Jonno Foundation director Dr Rezwan-ul-Alam and others were present at the inaugural ceremony.

The festival began with the screening of Pradeep Ghosh directed Shuttle Train. The film is based on Mohsena Jhorna’s novel Bohe Somantoral and revolves around the shuttle train of Chittagong University. It gives the viewers a glimpse into the scenic beauty of the university and students’ lives.

The shuttle train, which carries around 20,000 students daily, remains at the centre of the film.

Former and current students of the university have acted in the film, while songs of the film have also been rendered by former students.

Today, the festival will  end with screening of short films Beauty Boarding, Mukhomukhi, Shayan and Punorabritti.
