Flood to turn worse in central districts

Flood is likely to turn worse in central districts in Bangladesh over the next 24 hours till 9:00am Saturday, said Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre in a bulletin on Friday.

The districts of Manikganj, Rajbari, Faridpur and Munshiganj will see the flood situation deteriorate while the flood situation in Tangail and Sirajganj will stay the same, said the FFWC.

On Friday, 13 rivers were flowing above their danger levels at 22 points, said the FFWC in the bulletin.

The Padma River will continue to rise over the next 48 hours, said the FFWC.

The northern and north-eastern districts of Bogura, Jamalpur, Kurigram, Gaibandha, Netrokona, Sunamganj and Sylhet may see flood water recede over the next 24 hours, said the FFWC.

The FFWC recorded country’s highest rainfall of 61 mms in 24 hours till 9:00am at Bogura.

The Met Office said that light to moderate rain may occur at mane places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions in next 24 hours till 6:00pm Saturday.

Though Indian Met Office did not see any chance of rain in Assam and Meghalaya over next 24 hours, the areas may see heavy to very heavy rains for three days from Sunday.
