Youth lynched in Netrakona

A youth was lynched on Thursday after he was found carrying a child’s severed head in a bag in Netrakona town.

The deceased youth could not be identified immediately but the child was identified as Sajib Mia, 8, son of Rois Mia, of the municipality area.

Quoting locals, Netrakona model police station’s officer-in-charge Tajul Islam Najmul Hasan (investigation) said some people of Harijan community noticed the matter when the unidentified man went to Harijan Palli to get liquor and chased him.

The angry mob then beat him up mercilessly beside a pond at New Town area of the municipality, leaving him dead on the spot, the OC added.

Police recovered the body of the youth and the severed head of the child.

The body and the head were sent to Netrakona Modern Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Superintendent of police Joydev Chowdhury said Sajib had been living with his parents at a rented house in the town.
