Housewife burnt in Sirajganj acid attack

A housewife was admitted to Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital in Sirajganj with acid burn injuries early Wednesday, about an hour after unidentified assailants threw acid on her at their village home at Dogachhi of Kamarkhand in Sirajganj.

The victim Anguri Begum, 19, came under the acid attack on Tuesday night when she was taking food in living room beside door, her husband Shahadot Hossain told reporters at the hospital on Wednesday.

He, however, could not say the reason behind the acid attack.

Shamimul Islam, on-duty physician at the emergency department of the hospital, said that the housewife suffered burn injuries in parts of her face, back and hand.

Kamarkhand police station officer-in-charge Habibul Islam said that locals informed them about the matter and police visited the spot and the victim at the hospital.

He, however, said that no one came to the police station until Wednesday evening to lodge case in this connection.
