Bangladesh Cricket Board XI trailed Dr DY Patil Cricket Academy by 70 runs in the first innings at the end of the second day’s play of their second ‘B’ Zone match of the Dr (Capt) K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Wednesday.
BCB XI reached 261-5 at stumps on day two with Nurul Hasan unbeaten on 67 after bowling out Patil Academy for 331 in their first innings.
Taijul Islam took the remaining two wickets of the opposition to finish with 6-144 and bundle out Patil Academy after they resumed the day’s play on 300-8.
BCB XI were off to a solid start, with a 98-run opening stand between Jahurul Islam and Shadman Islam before both of them fell in quick succession for the identical score of 49 to leave the visitors on 113-2.
After skipper Mominul Haque (18) followed the openers to the dressing room shortly, Nurul and Najmul Hossain (34) stopped the tumbling of wickets by adding 66 runs for the fourth wicket.
BCB XI again lost couple of quick wickets to be reduced to 199-5 before Nurul along with Saif Hassan formed an unbeaten 62-run stand for the sixth wicket to safely shepherd their side to the end of play without any more damage.
Naushad Sheikh took 2-30 for Patil Academy while Aquib Qureshi, Mukesh Choudhary and Iqbal Abdullah took one wicket each.
Bangladesh earlier drew their opening match of the tournament against Vidarbha while Patil Academy lost their tournament opener against KSCA Secretarys XI by seven wickets.
