Recitation troupe Kanthashilan organised a solo recitation show featuring performance by its president recitation artiste Golam Sarwar at National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Tuesday.
The programme titled ‘Shubho Shashthi Golam Sarwar’ was organised marking the 60th birthday of Golam Sarwar.
Peers, friends and well-wishers greeted Golam Sarwar at the programme.
Sammilita Sangskritik Jote president Ghulam Quddus, Bangladesh Abritti Samannay Parishad presidium member Rafiqul Islam, Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation secretary general Akhtaruzzaman, thespians Ataur Rahman and Mamunur Rashid and recitation artiste Iqbal Khurshed, among others, were present at the programme.
Golam Sarwar entertained the audience reciting Rabindranath Tagore’s poem Puraskar, short story Ashambhab Katha and Gandharir Abedon.
Born in July 6, 1960 Golam Sarwar has made a name for himself as a recitation artiste, organiser and trainer.
He joined Kanthashilan in 1985 and learnt recitation under Naren Biswas, Shamsur Rahman and Wahidul Haque.
He is currently serving as the president of Kanthashilan, which is working to popularise recitation among the masses.
Besides, he is also the vice-president of Charuniram School of Acting and presidium member of Bangladesh Abritti Samannay Parishad.
The programme ended with screening of a documentary on life and works of Golam Sarwar.
