Politicians and labour leaders on Tuesday at a commemoration meeting said that Syed Zafar Sazzad was a true politician who worked for establishing a non-communal democratic Bangladesh.
Dhaka City unit of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal faction led by Hasanul Haq Inu organised the commemoration meeting at Colonel Taher Auditorium at party’s central office at Bangabandu Avenue to mark the 9th anniversary of death of former general secretary and freedom fighter Syed Zafar Sazzad.
JSD general secretary Shirin Akhter said that death of Zafar Sazzad was an irreparable loss for the party as he was actively involved with all political movements of the party.
He had a dream for establishing a non-communal democratic Bangladesh and his party would continue movements for reaching in the goal, Shirin said.
Chaired by joint convener of Dhaka City coordination committee Nurul Akhter, central leaders of the party Habibur Rahman Shawkat, Shahid Uddin Mollah, Fazlur Rahman, Nader Chowdhury, labour leader Naimul Ahsan Jewel and others took part at the discussion meeting.
Zafar Sazzad died in a Dhaka hospital on July 16, in 2010.
