Students of Rajshahi Nursing College on Saturday staged a demonstration to press home their four-point charter of demands that included creating separate cadre posts for nurses in Bangladesh Civil Service.

Their other demands were increasing intern allowance to Tk 20,000 from Tk 6,000, raising stipend to Tk 5,000 from Tk 2,000, and upgrading all nursing institutes as full-fledged colleges.

Hundreds of students under the banner of ‘Students of Rajshahi Nursing College’ brought out a protest procession and rallied in front of the nursing college at 10:00am.

The agitating students in the rally said they would launch a tougher movement if effective steps were not taken immediately to meet their demands.

Rajshahi Nursing College Students Welfare Association president Mehedi Hasan Sumon, vice-president Mohaiminul Islam, general secretary Jannatul Nayeem, and Bangladesh Basic Graduate Student Nurses Association general secretary Moyaj Uddin spoke, among others, at the rally.
