Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Saturday decided to hold rallies in divisional headquarters for immediate release of jailed party chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The party made the decision at a meeting of its standing committee, the highest decision making forum of the party, at party chairperson’s office at Gulshan in the capital, said BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He said that the party would hold a rally in Barishal on July 18, Chittagong on July 20 and Khulna on July 25.
He said that dates for the rest divisions would be announced by this month.
He also said that the party leaders and activists were asked to stand by the flood-affected people across the country.
He said that the meeting criticised the government failure to solve the Rohingya crisis.
On February 8, 2018, Khaleda was jailed for five years in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case. She has been receiving treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University since April 1.
