The Financial Institution Division on Tuesday formed a search committee for appointing new managing directors for some of the state-owned banks.
Headed by FID secretary Ashadul Islam, the four-member committee was formed as the tenure of MDs in some banks, including Sonali, Rupali and Agrani, will expire next month.
According to a notification of the FID, the committee would select three potential candidates for each of the banks and put forward the names to the government for appointing one of them.
At present, the government is facing problem to find out managing director of the scam-hit Basic Bank after its previous MD submitted resignation almost eight months back.
Besides, the top posts of some of the specialised banks including Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank, Ansar-VDP Unnayan Bank and Bangladesh Development Bank Ltd remained vacant for several months.
