Forensic experts at Dhaka Medical College on Saturday said the seven-year-old girl of Wari was raped before she was murdered.
The body of the schoolgirl was found in an under-construction building at Dhaka’s Wari on Friday hours after she went missing in the evening.
Sohel Mahmud, head of forensic department of Dhaka Medical College, after an autopsy on her body told reporters that the child was raped and then strangled. There were also marks of injuries on her face and neck.
The daughter of businessman at Nawabpur went out of their apartment at Wari in the evening to play with other children as she used to do every day.
The family informed the police hours after she remained missing even after search.
Police recovered the blood-stained body lying in an empty flat on the eighth floor of an under-construction building with a rope around her neck, said Azizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Wari police station.
The girl was a nursery student of a well-known private school at Wari and was the youngest among four siblings.
The victim’s father has filed a case in this connection, Azizur said.
Six people including the security guard of the building have been detained for interrogation, he added.
Meanwhile, a Dhaka court on Saturday fixed July 24 for submission of investigation report in the case of rape and murder of the girl.
General recording officer and sub inspector Md Sharif told New Age that the Wari police sent only First Information Report and the case documents.
He also said as no accused was produced before the court on the day, metropolitan magistrate Atikur Rahman set July 24 for submission of report on the case under the Prevention of Women and Children Repression Act.
