Students of Dhunat Adarsha Uchha Bidyalay in Dhunat of Bogura boycotted their mid-term examinations on Saturday protesting against forcibly trimming down hair of 50 of the fellows by the school authorities.

Students and locals said two instructors of computer section of Dhunat Adarsha Uchwa Bidyalay, Sajjad Hossain and Rikta Akter, haphazardly trimmed down hair of about 50 students of class IX and X of the school on Saturday while they were taking mid-term examinations in the school.

Incensed with the incident, the students boycotted the examinations and went out of classes.

Though the guardians expressed anger over the incident, Sajjad Hossain said he believed he did not commit any offence.

‘The students keep long hair… they were not cutting down their hairs that led us to take the action,’ he said.

Though the instructors boldly defended their acts, the school’s head teacher Abdullahel Baki, however, took the policy of denial. He out rightly rejected the allegation and said no such incident took place in his school.

Dhunat upazila high school education officer SM Jinnah and upazila nirbahi officer Razia Sultana said they would take punitive action after investigating the matter.
