The officials of Islamic University observed work abstention programme on the campus in Kushtia on Monday pressing their three-point charter of demands including increase of salary and extension of retirement age.
Around four hundred officers under the banner of IU Officers’ Association observed work abstention from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
The three demands include increase of salary scale, increase of age limit for retirement from 60 to 62 years, and change of working hours of the university from 9:00am-4:30pm to 8:00am-2:00pm.
The administrative activities of the university remained halted because of the programme.
IU Officers’ Association president Shamsul Islam Joha said that they would continue their demonstration on the campus until their demands were met.
