The country’s lone Cyber Tribunal on Monday asked the jail authority to provide division facilities to the former Sonagazi police station officer-in-charge Mouazzem Hossain.
Tribunal judge Ash-Shams Jaglul Hussein asked the jail authorities to take necessary steps in this regard.
Mouazzem now faces trial on charge of filming and circulating video of a victim of sexual harassment.
Faruque Ahmed filed a petition seeking division for Mouazzem Hossain who was sent to jail in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.
On June 17, the Cyber Tribunal sent the former Sonagazi police station officer-in-charge to jail after rejecting his bail application following his arrest on June 16.
On April 15, Supreme Court lawyer Sayedul Haque Sumon filed the case against Mouazzem for spreading a video of Feni madrassah student and sexual harassment victim Nusrat Jahan Rafi on social media without her consent.
The Police Bureau of Investigation found that Mouazzem forcibly videoed Nusrat’s statement at his office on March 27, shared the video with journalists on April 8 for posting it on social media and creating social unrest and attempting to disrupt law and order by spreading the video.
On April 6, when Nusrat went to the madrassah to take her Alim examination she was set afire.
She died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital died on April 10, triggering nation-wide protest and international criticism.
