Chhayanaut welcomes monsoon

Chhayanaut artistes celebrated the advent of monsoon presenting songs and dances on Friday at Chhayanaut Auditorium in Dhanmondi.

The programme, organised by Chhayanaut, titled ‘Chhayanaut Er Barshar Gaan’ was dedicated to Sufia Kamal.

The programme featured songs of monsoon and dances synchronised with songs penned by Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Atul Prasad Sen, Sufia Kamal and Dwijendralal Ray.

Chhayanaut artistes commenced the show presenting a group dance recital synchronised with a Tagore song Trishnar shanti shundor kranti.

Chhayanaut advisory committee member Sultana Kamal delivered the welcome speech at the programme.

In solos, Iffat Binte Nazi rendered a Tagore song Shawono gagane ghor ghanaghata, Chanchal Baral presented Tagore song Timir abagunthane badan tobo dhaki, Iffat Ara Dewan sang Tagore song Godhuli gagane meghe dhekechhilo tara, Rezaul Karim rendered Nazrul song Ey ghono ghor ratey, Nasima Shahin Fancy sang Nazrul song Rumu jhumu, rumu jhumu, Jhuma Khandakar rendered Nidh nahi akhi patey, penned by Atul Prasad Sen, Sanzida Zohora Bithi sang Nazrul song Elo krishna kanaiya and Shuma Roy rendered Dwijendralal Ray’s song Barsha ailo, among others.

Besides, artistes presented a dance recitals synchronised with songs like Bajromanik diye gatha, Barsha elo oi Barsha, Sharabono jhulitey badal o ratey and Chanchal shymol elo gaganey.
