Workshop on Humayun Kabir
On June 22, Center for Advanced Theory started a semester long workshop titled ‘Philosophical Discourse of Modernity: Humayun Kabir on Genealogies of Bengali Poetry’ at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh.
This workshop is a part of CAT’s semester long workshop series that is open for all and will be held on every Saturday.
The workshop series, conducted by Salimullah Khan, will explore the origin and nature of Bengali Modern poetry putting Humayun Kabir’s book The Poetry of Bengal in the centre.
Humayun Kabir was a poet, scholar and politician. He was educated in Oxford and was the personal secretary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. He edited Azad’s auto-biography India Wins Freedom. Apart from his contribution to Bengali poetry, he contributed significantly to the history of Bengali literature and literary criticism.
