1 - England on Tuesday scored 397-6 against Afghanistan at Old Trafford which is their highest ever total in World Cup. Previously their highest World Cup total was 386-6 against Bangladesh at Cardiff in the ongoing ICC World Cup.
4 - England skipper Eoin Morgan smashed a 57-ball hundred against Afghanistan which is the fourth quickest hundred in World Cup. The fastest hundred in World Cup was scored by Ireland’s Kevin O’Brien when he struck a 50-ball hundred against England in Bangalore during 2011 World Cup.
5 - England’s Joe Root was involved in a 189-run stand with Eoin Morgan on Tuesday and with that he now has five 100 plus partnerships in 2019 World Cup and also became the joint most for a player in any World Cup. Pakistan’s Javed Miandad and Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan have also been involved in five 100 plus partnerships in 1992 and 2015 editions.
17 - Eoin Morgan struck 17 sixes against Afghanistan and it is the highest number of individual sixes recorded in a one-day international match. India’s Rohit Sharma, South Africa’s AB de Villiers and West Indies’ Chris Gayle had previously struck 16 sixes each in their respective ODI innings.
25 - England batsmen on Tuesday hit 25 sixes on their way to score their highest World Cup total and it is the highest number of sixes recorded in a one-day international match. England had struck 24 sixes against West Indies in Grenada in 2019 which was previous highest number of sixes recorded in an ODI innings.
189 - English batsmen Joe Root and Eoin Morgan put up a 189-run stand for the third wicket which is the highest partnership record for England in World Cup. Their previous highest partnership was made by Dennis Amiss and Keith Fletcher when they put up 176 runs against India at Lord’s in the inaugural match of 1975 World Cup.
