Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) chief AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Friday termed the proposed budget a positive one.
He thanked the government for proposing creation of tax centres in upazilas.
‘The proposed budget is generally positive,’ he told a joint meeting of BDB and Juktofront at BDB’s Badda Office.
He, however, expressed reservations about increasing mobile phone’s call rate, doubling tax on the profit of savings certificates and keeping scopes for legalising undisclosed money.
Chowdhury reminded the government about reforming the banking sector and not taking adequate steps for development of education.
He thanked the government for proposing to slash prices of cancer medicines.
Chowdhury, a former president, said Juktofront will arrange a round table discussion on the national budget very soon. Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal placed a Tk 5,23,190 crore budget for the 2019-20 fiscal on Thursday.
