Dhaka-based theatre troupe Bangla Natyadal staged 12th show of its popular play titled ‘Megh’ at Studio Theatre hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Thursday.
The play, written by Utpal Dutt and directed by H M Sohiduzzaman, talks about the pros and cons of extramarital affairs and characteristically depicts the age old saying ‘truth will always prevail’.
‘This was the 12th show of our production. We will stage more shows of the play in future. The play has received huge response from the audience,’ H M Sohiduzzaman, director of the play, told New Age.
The play revolves around a fictitious writer named Samaresh Shannal, who suffers from Schizophrenia disease.
One day Shannal comes across his college sweetheart Sujata. This chance meeting rekindles his old feelings for her and soon they begin a romantic affair.
However, Sujata starts demanding money from Shannal and threatens to reveal everything to his wife.
At one point Shannal murders Sujata and removes all evidence related to the killing.
A few days later, a police officer, who is investigating the sudden disappearance of Sujata, questions Shannal, who eventually admits the murder.
Abid Ahmed, H M Shohiduzzaman, Subarna Mir, Afsana Akter Juthi, Selim Bohurupi, Liton Khan, Nasir Ahmed Durjoy and Syed Golam Mortaza enacted different roles in the play.
