At least seven people were killed in separate accidents in the country on Wednesday and Tuesday.
New Age correspondent reports from Pabna, two people were killed when their motorbike collided with a human hauler in front of the Deputy Commissioner Bungalow on the Circuit House Road on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Hafez Walid,22, son of Amin Pramanik and his nephew Pranta Hossain,16, hailing from Bolorampur village in Pabna sadar upazila.
Police said the accident took place around 10:00am when the motorbike carrying Walid and Pranta collided head-on with a human hauler leaving the duo dead on the spot while they were returning home after the burial of one of their relatives.
The bodies were sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination, said Obaidul Haq, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
A case was filed with Pabna sadar police.
In Kushtia, a man was killed and 25 others were injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch in Khoksha Upazila of the district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Mosaddek Ali Sheikh, 36, a passenger of the bus and resident of Kamlapur area in the Upazila. He was an employee Bangladesh Naval Aviation, reports Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khoksha police station ABM Mehedi Masud said the accident occurred this noon in Shimulia Kuthibari area on Kushtia-Rajbari Road. Mosaddek died on the spot.
The injured passengers were given primary treatment and the body was sent to Khoksha hospital.
In Naogaon, three people were killed when a truck hit their motorcycle at Mahishbathan bazaar in Mahadebpur upazila on Tuesday night, reports United News of Bangladesh.
The deceased were identified as Sharif Hossain, 19, son of Dulal Hossain; Ruhani Islam, 19, son of Golam Rasul; and Sagar Hossain, 19, son of Abdus Samad of Bijoypur village of the upazila.
The accident took place around 10pm when a truck rammed the motorbike carrying three people. The victims were killed on the spot, said Sazzad Hossain, officer-in-charge of Mahadebpur Police Station.
Police later handed over the bodies to their families.
In Rangpur, A sexagenarian man was killed in a road accident in front of Taraganj Upazila Health Complex on the Rangpur-Dinajpur highway under Taraganj upazila in the district on Wednesday.
Police said the accident occurred when a Dinajpur bound night coach from Dhaka hit the man there killing him on the spot while he was crossing the road this morning, reports Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.
“The deceased was identified as Mohammad Adel Badsha, 60, son of late Khoyer Ullah of nearby Ghonirampur Dangapara village in Kursha union of Taraganj upazila,” Officer-in-Charge of Taraganj Highway Thana police Abdullah Hel Baki told BSS.
