The Criminal Investigation Department arrested Khulna Press Club’s former vice-president Mizanur Rahman Milton in a money laundering case on Monday.
Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Narail’s Kalia Police Station, said CID picked up Mizanur and three others from a hotel in Khulna city around 2:00pm and handed him over around 7:00pm.
He was later produced before a court and sent to prison.
CID inspector Anup filed a money laundering case against 16 people, including Mizanur, with Kalia police. Four people, including the journalist, have been arrested in the case so far.
Journalists from Khulna Press Club, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalist and Metropolitan Journalist Union condemned the arrest and demanded his immediate release.
