The 8th international conference of the South and Southeast Asian Association for the Study of Culture and Religion will be held on June 13-16 in Dhaka.
University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh will organise the event on its campus with the theme ‘Rivers and Religion: Connecting Cultures of South and Southeast Asia’.
The programme is expected to bring together hundreds of scholars such as archaeologists, historians, anthropologists, sociologists and economists from home and abroad, said ULAB pro-vice-chancellor Professor Shamsad Mortuza at a press conference on Tuesday.
Education minister Dipu Moni will inaugurate the conference, while the closing ceremony will be attended by planning minister MA Mannan.
ULAB director of the Centre for Archaeological Studies Professor Shahnaj Husne Jahan, Media Studies and Journalism Professor Sumon Rahman, and SSEASR President Professor Amarjiva Lochan were also present at the press conference.
The SSEASR Conference, a biennial event, was earlier held in Vietnam in 2017.
