Drug peddler suspect killed in Cumilla 'gunfight'

A suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported gunfight with Border Guard Bangladesh at Ghilatoli along Shahpur bordering area in Cumilla Adarsha Sadar early Friday.

The deceased was Helal Uddin, son of Sundar Ali of Bajgadda area in the upazila.

Tipped-off, a team of BGB 10 raided the area at around 3:00am, said Lieutenant Colonel Abu Mohammad Mahiuddin, commanding officer of BGB 10.

Criminals opened fire when the border guards approached. At one stage, Helal was caught in the line of fire and sustained gunshot wounds.

Later, he was taken to local hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

BGB also seized 3,000 Yaba pills from the possession of Helal.
