Both Bangladesh men’s and women’s handball teams finished runners-up in the Islami Bank International Handball Federation tournament after both sides lost their respective finals to India on Thursday.
Bangladesh Under-20 men’s team suffered a huge 25-46 defeat to India while women’s Under-19 team lost the crown to India by losing 29-48 margin.
In the men’s final, Bangladesh offered some great challenge in the first few minutes but they seemed helpless after Indian players put immense pressure to destroy their defence.
India took a 20-10 lead in the first half and added another 26 goals in the later half to seal the victory.
Anil Kudia of India scored highest 11 goals while Sohel Rana scored six goals for the home side.
While in the women’s final, India continued their dominance throughout the game and took a clear 26-7 lead in the first half.
Bangladesh, who lifted the previous edition championship by beating hosts Pakistan in 2014, failed to offer any challenge to their Indian counterparts.
