Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy will celebrate the 158th birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore and 120th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, which passed respectively on May 8 and 25, organising a special programme after Eid-ul-Fitr.
The academy did not organise any observation programmes on the dates due to Ramadan and will celebrate the occasions after Eid-ul-Fitr, said BSA officials.
‘During Ramadan, it is difficult to get the required artistes and audiences as both show reluctance to participate and attend at programmes. We have plans to celebrate the occasions through a big and befitting programme after Eid-ul-Fitr,’ said Soharab Hossain, director of music, dance and recitation department of BSA. Cultural affairs ministry, however, arranged celebration programmes marking 158th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on May 8 and the 120th birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam on May 25 at Trishal, Mymensingh.
