Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal led by Hasanul Huq Inu, a partner of the Awami League led alliance, on Thursday demanded the government should go on drastic action against food adulterators for pushing lives of the people on threats.
The party on Thursday observed countrywide Anti -Adulteration Day.
The party president Hasanul Haq Inu, also a former minster, at a human chain formed in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka, called on the government to take zero tolerance policy against the food adulterators.
Their crimes were not less than the drug peddles as they were adulterating food and medicine items which were harmful for the life span of the people, Inu said.
‘We cannot allow such unfair businesses who were responsible for using harmful chemicals in fish, meat, fruits and vegetables,’ Inu said.
He also warned the Dhaka Water and Sewerage Authority of Dhaka to ensure supply of safe and drinkable water for the city dwellers.
The city dwellers would compelled to pay their bills to WASA if they failed to supply safe and drinkable water, Inu also the chairman of Parliamentary standing committee on information warned.
Chaired by the coordinator of the Dhaka City JSD Mir Hossain Akhter, general secretary of the party Shrin Akhter, central leaders Shafi Uddin Mollah, Nurul Akhter and others spoke at the human chain rally.
