Freedom Fighter Meer Abdul Hannan, Liberation War affairs secretary of Feni district unit Awami League, died at Ayesha Memorial Hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday morning. He was 72.
Hannan, also immediate past commander of Feni Muktijoddha Command Council, was brought to Dhaka on Monday after he fell severely ill. As his condition worsened, he was put on life support.
His nephew Meer Abdul Baki said Hannan’s first namaz-e-janaza was held at the National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital (NIDCH) quarters Jame Mosque after asr prayers.
His second namaz-e-janaza will be held at Feni’s Mizan Maidan at 11:00am Thursday, and the third namaz-e-janaza will be held at Chhagalnaiya Pilot High School ground after zuhr prayers.
He will be laid to rest at family graveyard after the fourth namaz-e-janaza.
Hannan left behind two sons, two daughters and many admirers and relatives to mourn his death.
Local parliament members Shirin Akhter and Nizam Uddin Hazari, Feni district council chairman Aziz Ahmed Chowdhury, Feni sadar upzilla chairman Abdur Rahman and others in separate statements expressed their condolences at the death of the war hero.
