Jatiya Party on Sunday chose its central committee organising secretary and also JP Bogura district unit general secretary M Nurul Islam Omar as its candidate for Bogura 6 by-poll.
The constituency fell vacant as MP-elect Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Fakhrul Islam Alamgir did not take oath.
Nurul Islam Omar, who had earlier won from the constituency in 2014 election, was chosen by the JP parliamentary party, JP joint office secretary MA Razzak Khan told New Age.
On May 7, the Election Commission announced the schedule for by-election to Bogura 6 constituency on June 24.
According to the schedule, the last date of filing nomination is May 23, and nomination papers will be scrutinised by the returning officer on May 27.
Earlier on Monday the ruling Awami League nominated its Bogura district unit joint general secretary T Zaman Niketa for Bogura 6 by-poll.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party has not yet decided anything about the by-poll, BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said.
A Gono Forum leader, however, said BNP and its allies would select a candidate for the polls shortly.
