Workers Party of Bangladesh, a partner of the Awami League-led alliance, on Monday called on the government to discuss sincerely in parliament before making any decision on loan defaulters.
‘It is very important because this involves the country’s financial sector, banking system and the interests of depositors. Defaulting loans is a big corruption. If the government fails to restrict this type of corruption, discipline cannot be exercised in the governance,’ said the party president Rashed Khan Menon during a discussion at the National Press Club in Dhaka.
Workers Party Dhaka branch president Abul Hossain presided over the discussion on ‘make strict promise about stern actions against corruption, loan defaulting and anomaly in banking sector.’
Former minster and also Member of Parliament Rashed Khan Menon said not only legal actions, but social resistant should be initiated against the loan defaulters.
He also called on the left progressive forces to get united to lead the movement.
‘We cannot leave the country in the hands of plunderers,’ Menon said.
Journalist Swadesh Roy, WP city leader Banzir Ahmed also took part in the discussion and city general secretary Kishore Roy conducted the programme.
