Khulna-based Rabindra Sangeet singer Farhana Yasmin Shawon, a regular artiste of Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her rented house at Kashimnagar area in Khulna Sadar on Sunday.
Police went to the spot and recovered the body at around 2:00 pm after breaking open the door.
The body was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH ) for autopsy.
After the autopsy, the police handed over the body to her family. She was buried at her family graveyard in Satkhira district on Sunday night.
An unnatural death case was filed with Khulna Sadar Police Station in this connection.
Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammilon Parishad Khulna unit vice president advocate Mina Mizanur Rahman told New Age that Shawon, also an assistant teacher of Dumuria Model Government Primary School, was a passionate Rabindra Sangeet singer.
‘She was a promising Rabindra Sangeet singer who always rendered Tagore’s songs following original musical notations. Her untimely death has robbed us of a talented singer,’ Mina Mizanur Rahman told New Age.
