Juba League leader shot dead in Rangamati

A local leader of Juba League, ruling Awami League-backed youth organisation, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Bangalhalia of Rajasthali upazila on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Keo Hla Cing Marma, president of Ward 8 unit of Juba League in Rajasthali.
Chairman of Bangalhalia Union Parishad, Neo Mong Marma, said Keo Hla Cing Marma was talking to his family after dinner in the village Bubaidong of Naikkachara area, when around 15 people broke into his house and shot him in the head around 10:30pm on Sunday and fled the scene.
Later police arrived and sent the body for autopsy.
Chandraghona police station officer-in-charge Ashraf Uddin said that on information, police visited the site of the murder and sent the body to Rangamati General Hospital for an autopsy.
The body was handed over to the deceased family following the autopsy. The officer said the assailants could not be identified but an investigation was launched.
Awami League Rangamati district unit general secretary Musa Matobbar accused the regional political party Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti for the murder.
Jana Samhati Samiti Rangamati district unit general secretary Nilotpal Khisha however denied the allegation and said it was not involved in any kind of atrocities. ‘We believe in peaceful means of struggle for our rights in CHT. Those allegations are not true’, he said.
Earlier on Saturday night, a group of unidentified people shot ward Awami League leader Kay Cing Thowai Marma at Rajbila union of Bandarban.
